Government to use one e-com site for all its purchases | India News


NEW DELHI: The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) workplace is ready to combine the GeM platform with the central public procurement portal (CPPP) and people for railways and defence in a phased method, to enhance shopping for and promoting course of for ministries, departments and different companies.
GeM, an internet platform for public procurement launched in August 2016 by the commerce ministry, will add over 100 new options within the present portal to make it extra dynamic and clear. “These new features will be part of the new GeM 4.0. The work will be implemented by September 2020,” mentioned GeM CEO Talleen Kumar.
The authorities has made it necessary for all the departments and ministries to supply items and providers from its emarketplace. The portal affords a variety of merchandise from workplace stationery to automobiles with cars, computer systems and workplace furnishings being the highest product classes. Public procurement value Rs 23,000 crore was made by GeM in the course of the April 2019-March 4, 2020 interval. In 2018-19, it was Rs 17,000
